We haveing what our local weatherman refers to as a "Pineapple express". a current of warm moist(wet) air is coming straight from Hawaii/south pacific. The mountains are getting just hammered.Passes are closed.RedMountain has been closed for 3 days, avalanch closed I70 yesterday. Ski areas are closeing because of TOO MUCH snow.Ctrested Butte has gotten almost 10 feet!Monarch and one other just announced closeures. Wehere in the valley are getting rain and snow mix.Supposed to continue for a while.Someone cut down those pineapple trees! LOL On the plus side,we will have a banner year for irrigation water!:)

We get the Pineapple Express a couple of times each winter up here. It can really dump the rain and snow. The worst part is when the temperature is high enough it will melt the snow and really deplete the snow pack.

I don't know where it was but the news showed a fella paddling a kayak in his living room it also showed the ski areas shut down because of to much snow. Best of luck to all you folks in that area. It looks like 2017 may be like 2016.

I am just glad you are getting precipitation out west.

I think we are a little dry this winter in Iowa.

Welcome to our world in Vancouver, BC. We get this every year. However since the jet stream is getting pushed down with an arctic outflow we got a lot of snow and it's been fairly cold, compared to most years. Some years we don't even get a frost, but we've had snow around our place for about a month. The local stores ran out of sidewalk salt. They were handing it out at the fire stations because the sidewalks were so bad in town. This area doesn't have the equipment to keep most of the streets plowed because it's such a rare occurrence. You should have seen the tire shops putting on snow tires. It probably made their year!

Its been cold and snowy in the greater Portland area (was 6 degree's on the way to work this AM). The forecast is for warming and 2-4" of rain the first of next week. That will melt that snow and run the creeks out of their banks.
