Looking to make my own little 4 or 5ft wide drop spreader to pull behind my little wheel horse to fertilize our lawn with.

Does any one have a good idea what to use for the agitator inside of the box? I would like to find an old one and cut it down to the width I want.

Why not just get one of the spin type that they sell? I was thinking of getting one to pull behind my zero turn, and there are a lot out there. They also have means of directing what direction it goes in if you are worried about the wrong stuff getting on plants, etc.

Gravely use to sell one like that. I think it was 5 feet wide.

for that wide, what about buying 2 of those ones they sell for lawn tractors and remaking their boxes into 1 common box that should easily hit 5 or 6 feet in spread with, if your using grain type fertilizer , may need a center block under the box so the fertilizer doesn't overlap in the center
