Time to get garden started

About that time to get back out into the garden.
Stopped by the feed store on the way home a got a few things.

Red Lasoda potatoes that should be planted in garden end of this month.
Tomato; Pepper; and Eggplant seeds I will start inside under a grow light this weekend.
And a Satsuma tree I will add to my other fruit trees in the yard.

only in my dreams its minus 20f with 3 feet of snow in southern alberta now, good luck I wish I was there.

Richard;
I have lost whole crops of potatoes due to wet ground.
So now I put them in raised beds only covered by hay after first chitting them on my back porch or under a grow light.
Chitting them first also allows me to plant them in the ground a little later.

Disced my patch yesterday.Better half going after seed potatoes tomorrow. I usually plant the red Pontiac. Getting hard to find around here.

there were 2 nursery trucks unloading at a Lowes in Kyle just south of Austin. bedding plants, tomato plants, etc. and it was 15 degrees Sunday morning. I don't think winter is over here in south central Texas

I was just happy to see the Burgess catalog come in the mail yesterday. Though it was a sign that spring is still out there. That was after I moved the 9" snow drift in front of the mailbox.

What do those container trees sell for? Here that is a $45 tree. I plant 4 every spring after frost free date

Gordo
That tree is in about a 5 gallon bucket.
If I drive down to the grower I can get them for 20 to 25 dollars.
I have seen garden centers in New Orleans selling them for $40.
I paid $30 for this one and saved myself over 2 hours of driving (round trip) down to the growers location.
