No more wrestling firewood for me!

We finished blocking up the long length firewood last week. We borrowed a friends pallet forks and lifted the trees waist high and blocked them with the saw no bending lifting or reaching at all. We had @6 cord that I had stacked in 8' lengths left so we decided we'd use the saw gear for those. After we pulled about a half a dozen sticks down from the pile and running for cover as they fell down than man handling them onto the saw table it got old pretty quick. I used the manure fork to move them to the blocked pile to block them up but if any of you have handled wood with a manure bucket it's just a fair contract time they stick in the wood and you bend tines. So today we traded the saw gear in towards owning half of a new set of forks of our own we will share with my next door neighbour cousin. We have owned various pieces of small equipment before and share a log winch so we already know we get along great.

I'm for anything that will make it easier.

Something I stumbled across several years ago is a 2 wheeled firewood carrier from HF. I keep my wood protected in a shed. Used to put it on the porch but found out that my pier footings didn't like the additional weight of 2 cords of wood. The cart works great, holds 2 days worth of wood, large wheels, well balanced and all. I can roll it up to my mud room in the house, wiggle it up the step and have it right there out of the weather. Cost was around $50. If you don't have a slick mover from your pile to your house, bears checking out. I did replace their bicycle tires'wheels with solid from Northern Tool. Got tired of the tires going flat and the solid tires roll better across the yard.

That's a great idea when my kids all move out and won't help dad put it in that may be my next addition

I'm still using my manure loader to get logs from the landing over to the wood shed. Using the loader it's easy to block them and save the back from bending over.
