Everybody out west doing OK?

Hear it's really raining and blowing!

Saw where the last tree with a tunnel cut through it blew down. Est to have been 1000+ years old!

Steve, thawing out now, but supposed to get colder and snow again. Then 3-4 days of below freezing weather and then thawing out again. Still trying to clean up the tree that decided to try and take out my house. Have to deal with the insurance and different contractors to fix the damage. Thankfully it pretty much missed the house but still did damage to my new roof and broke siding, Took out the feeder line from the pole to the house but still had power. Ruined my fairly new 12k generator and the carport it sat under. Thanks for asking.

Just a lot of rain, mostly light now. In Southern Cal. Going to be a good weed mowing season. When the weeds are short and easy going I don't charge less, or when the weeds are heavy and slow going. I don't charge more. I remember going through that tree in the 50's with Dad, and Mom. Back then you could drive through it. Stan

So what's the deal? As usual the media mentioned it but jumbled everything up and you can't understand what they are talking about, or if you do you wish you hadn't. Is the tree dieing or did it die 50 years ago or whenever, the reason for the road through it?

Mark, what I understand is the park service hollowed out through the middle of several of the giant redwoods a hundred years or so ago, just to promote tourism. Wanted to create an attraction, show that the trees were so big a person, horse, car could go through the middle of the tree.

At that time there was little concern for the health of the tree, after all, it's just a tree, who cares if it took 1000 years to grow one!

The one that blew down was the last survivor of the tunnel surgery. Though it was still alive, I'm sure it's health and integrity were damaged.

Spent most of the day on the skidsteer piling up snow. Around 33 inches this winter and not much of it has melted. I guess that is what happens when I buy a tractor and would like to go get it....weather just hasn't been cooperating. Maybe next week.
