Need drive gear for John Deer 247 planter

Am in the process of resurrecting an old JD 247 planter and just discovered the 9 tooth sprocket on the counter shaft is badly worn. It is item #17 in the attached and the part number is suppose to be P2211B.

I have had no luck at all trying to find anything for this planter using the part numbers from the parts list.. Have searched eBay with no luck.

Any ideas on how to find this gear?
Thanks

Try either one of these numbers 919-735-3305 or 910-592-5550. They are John Deere dealers that show they still may have one in stock.

Thanks, will make a few phone calls.

Still wondering why the part numbers in the parts book do not come up in Google or the JD parts web site.

Bob,
Sometimes it is just the fun of the hunt. I think that there are four planters from four different states in this one.

I have no aspirations of making mine look that good, be happy if I can make it functional. Discovered this morning not only is the sprocket wore out the shaft it was on is bent. My planter has had a rough life.

Are you looking at a parts page in an early operators manual? If so then check the latest parts list, I think it is still avaible on J D parts lookup site and see if the numbers are still the same as they change numbers a lot. Also at times a letter in front or back of the number that shows in a book is not actually used on the part. Just some thoughts. I do have the books if I could find them. I grew up with a 246 that is the corn only version of your corn-cotton planter. So I do not know without finding the books to know if the part you are needing is unique to the cotton model or not. And I have seen where people have had the 246 and said they had the 247 even tho it was corn only as the frame had painted on both numbers with the main difference being in the boxes as the same frame was used for both.

Mine is the 247 although all I'm planning is to us it for is to plant an acre of sunflowers next spring.

Managed to straighten the shaft using my press and a dial indicator. Both ends were worn down and off center due to it being ran without proper maintenance (grease) and the bent shaft. Chucked the shaft in my lathe and turned down the ends for some 3/4 OD 1/2 ID tubing I had laying around to bush the worn sections back to normal.

Not sure what I'll do about the wallowed out end bearings. May replace them with an angle bracket and roller bearings like I did the main drive shaft.

Fun project...
