stopt in to see the granbabies this morning after finishin Christmas shoppin ,. needed a JACKSON FIX ,. he turned 1 yr, a month ago,. 5 yr old , Baily was officially adopted this yr,. the Baily and Jackson show is very entertaining ,,. LOL ....Son Will ,and Stacey are doing a marvelous job being parents ,. but this silly red elf has been hanging around the house since a few days after thanksgivn , ..LOL ,, Stacey ,. put him here and there, one morning he was on the ceiling fan ,. it took baily all day to find him and she feared he mite have gone back to the north pole because Baily had been a little sassey the day before ,.. LOL ,he has been on the nite stand , on the water tank of the commode , stuck on one of Jacksons tractors , as per momma's advice " not to touch the elf " he did not play with the tractor all day ,.. ( THE little Tike Gets IT ) LOL on the couch , on the stove,,. and this morning the elf was wrapped in silver and red ribbon and was on the fireplace mantle again with a nice note , and some booty slippers for the kids and a pc of candy , the note stated that he has enjoyed visiting with the family and reported to santa often that these kids at this house are really nice kids,.we did this for the kids here in this house about 25 yrs ago , but occassionally we forgot to move him LOL . along with advent calandars , have any of you guys done this for your kids ?

My now ex started elf on the shelf for the first grandkid, I always loved the whole idea. Don't know if they are still doing it, the kids are still young enough. My mother had a elf that would always sit high up in the kitchen, she would always tell my brother and I that he was reporting back to Santa about us.....although I was always well behaved all year!!!

We generally subscribed to the "pop on the butt" method of influence and behavior mod with our boys. I'd do more talking and less "popping" now but it seemed to be affective at the time and not seasonal. gm

Our daughter in law does the elf on a shelf thing with our twin granddaughters who are 7. They sure do respect the elf. As you stated about your grandson, they know not to touch the elf.
