I was looking at a Deutz - Fahr 140. How does one know if it is equipped withe the 540/1000 pto or just the 1000 rpm pto? I saw on tractor data that it was an option, but without a book to see how they would interchange, i'm not sure if this one is equipped with dual pto.
Thanks

Many new tractors have a snap ring at the base of the pto shaft. You remove the snap ring , and pull the shaft out. Some like the CaseIH 5140 that I used to have ,you simply turned the shaft around , and stuck it back in to go from 540 to 1000. On my new Kubota tractors , you remove the 540 shaft , and place a separate 1000 rpm shaft in . I don't know the Deutz tractors , but you could start by looking at the shaft for a snap ring.
