Our youngest daughter, with a double major from Stanford, enlisted in the Army 7 1/2 years ago. Went to PsyOps training, jump school (5th paratrooper in our family), Arabic language school, and did two tours in Afghanistan. She decided to leave the Army this August, and is currently going to the U of MN for her Master"s Degree in Business. Got married a few years ago (to the 6th paratrooper) whose career paralleled hers in regard to training and assignments. After tours in Qatar and Afghanistan, he left earlier, and is in his second year of his Master"s program in Urban Planning.

Both were assigned to Special Ops at Ft. Bragg, NC, and while she was waiting for Arabic classes to start, they were often assigned to act as "civilians" at Camp Mackall, where the Special Forces officers are trained. Wore her JD cap one day, and the training sgt, noticing her hat, asked if she could drive a JD loader tractor, to move some dirt in the area. "Of course!". Later he had her teaching guys how to back up trailers in the training area!

Over the years I"ve made mention of her here, and forwarded to her all of the nice responses you"ve posted. She was very appreciative of your support. I thank all of you for that....

Great skills!!

Reminded me of when my wife and I were heavily into boating. (She's an old farm gal). To pull the boat out of the water, we had a routine. I'd stay with the boat on the ramp side of the dock while she got the pickup and trailer. She'd back the trailer down the ramp, I'd drive the boat onto the trailer, secure the bow to the front stanchion, and she'd drive back up the ramp out of the way to finish securing the boat. All in less than five minutes, max.

Thing was, when guys saw a woman swing around to back an empty trailer down the ramp they'd respond with everything from eye rolls to grins to outright laughter. Then get a startled look on their faces when she'd back the trailer down the ramp faster and more accurately than most of them could.

We got many a chuckle out of it.

Pretty impressive career she has had so far. If you get an annoying neighbor she can use some PsycOps on them too.
