OT just too tired

I have spent 3 intense weeks on the road working long days. I got home last night, I had ringing in my ears on the way home, which I get when I have worked a lot. I could really feel it setting i on the way home. I wanted to get some things done today, but ringing is still there and I am so tired, so have worked on resting today. I should be home every night the next couple of weeks, so hope to rest up.

Any of you had these symptoms?

Davud G,

Ringing of the ears has kept me awake many nights. I was a person in an explosion of a lot of force. I wish my ringing of the ears would quit, then maybe my wife would sleep in the same room with the tv on.

You are nto alone.

My ringing is 24/7. Caused by floating crystals in inner eat. Nothing can be done, just live with it.

I had it as a side effect from a medication (muscle relaxant called cyclobenziprene). I'm glad the Doc figured that out; after I stopped taking the pills it went away in two days. Any changes to meds lately?

Yep; tintannus (sp) Had it for years, learned to mostly ignore it. Too many years without the benefit of ear protection. It will NOT go away. No medical repair.

I have to continue to play with my blood pressure meds. BP gets a bit high and I get the ringing ears. Take an extra BP pill when it ocurs and ringing goes away.

See an ENT (ear, nose & throat) to see if there is a difference in your hearing! Ask for pills to tolerate the noise.

If you are driving in a noisey truck or tractors you need hearing protection. Those foam plugs are cheap and easy to use. If you don't it is your own fault.

I read this post from someone a few weeks ago and wondered if it would work. I usually don't have ear ringing issues, even though I have done plenty of damage to my ears.
Place the palms of your hands over your ears with fingers resting gently on the back of your head. Your middle fingers should point toward one another just above the base of your skull. Place your index fingers on top of you middle fingers and snap them (the index fingers) onto the skull making a loud, drumming noise. Repeat 40-50 times. Some people experience immediate relief with this method. Repeat several times a day for as long as necessary to reduce tinnitus.Dr. Jan Strydom, of A2Z of Health, Beauty and Fintess.org.

It may help if you can get some rest on Sunday. FYI, Thanksgiving weekend I picked up a bad sinus infection. Plugged up ears, ringing and occasional earache were among the symptoms. Doctor prescribed a Z-pack antibiotic to fight it. I hope that isn't what your problem is.

Funny you should mention it - right now! I just turned down the blower on the wood stove because it was making my ears ring worse. I spent the day in the tractor plowing terraces. The IH 86 series cabs aren't exactly a SoundGuard cab. It doesn't help that I turn the radio up louder to combat the noise.

Sounds like tinnitus which is a rather common problem. It can be caused by many things and certainly bothersome. I've had it for a number of years. Check the link below for more information.

Wear the foam ear plugs in those older cabs. You would be surprised what an improvement it is. And believe it or not you can actually hear the radio better with the ear plugs to block out the tractor noise. Been doing it for years and my hearing is still pretty good.

I have had the same thing happen during long drives but I never could figure it out. One theory I have is it might be triggered by being exposed to the same constant noise for hours on end. It doesn't have to be loud, just constant and unvarying. Another theory is you are holding your head in one position for hours at a time, affecting the fluids in the ears???My theory probably has holes big enough to jump through. LOL

The other day my ears started ringing real loud. It was lower pitched from the normal high pitch I usually have going on. I was not exposed to any loud noise, it just showed up but it went away after an hour or so. go figure!

my ringing is cause i have spent to many years on the tank range, wearing a CVC with the radio blaring in my ears. VA says nothing can be done so here's a $133 a month for your loss....... rather have my hearing and no ringing.

I Have it from a 378 Pete w/ straight pipes, hauling milk.
1066 baler tractor, and loud machines in a cabinet factory.
I usually wear ear plugs now when I cut the yard.

I read that some people claim it can be
caused by some certain muscle in your neck.
It somehow pulls on something connected to
your inner ear. Kinda ties in with your
theory.

Tinnitus -- often started by exposure to noise. try to increase use of hearing protection around noise. Hearing loss is constant .Protect your hearing .

Yep, same here, same reason!

I had a couple of real dizzy spells last night, feeling much better this morning. I slept a couple of 12 hour nights, drank a lot of water and took naps. I think that I was really dehydrated too. I really appreciate the comments.
