If I ever grow up!

I want a John Deere 420 dozer! However being a 47 year old adolescent I want a JD 45 loader for my JD 52 A.
Did not want to steel a post but this always comes to mind.

I don,t know where you are at but i have a good JD 45 loader it has the snow bucket ,was on a 520 .i am in eastern South Dakota call me at 605 270 1844

Hang 1 ton of weight off the front post of your A and drive it around for awhile. You may change your mind.

I have a pair of 1955 60's with power steering, and once in a while i think it'd be nice to have a 45 loader as a toy.

But then I come to my senses.

You mean one like this. I have two, one I bought and another given to me. Gets use a lot when feeding cows. Moving feeders. Bales are around 900 pounds or so, don't try to move them with loader.

According to the manual, the 45 loader is rated for 2150 pound lift capacity, and 3200lb breakout capacity. You should be able to lift 900 lb round bales without a problem. But then you gotta be able to turn the steering wheel. Does your 450 have power steering?

You're better off with the A and the loader. I remember when a neighbor went to Archbold and bought a 40 or 420 dozer,I forget which. He wasn't a happy camper. He said he could move more with his Farmall M and loader.

Now I am looking for my 45 loader manual and can't find it. My 450 does have power steering. I have unloaded bales off a trailer with it, but don't try to move them very far. That much weight 3 feet out in front of the front wheels seems like a lot of weight. I know two people that have broken the arms on theirs. Doing what I don't know.

I had a 420 dozer with a loader "never again". Do your self a favour. A 1010 is a step better even better would be a 450.

I've got a 440IC with the dozer blade. It's amazing the amount of work that can be done with this machine. The best thing is it's just a good size for someone, like myself, who has a 4 1/2 acre lot rather than 40 acres.

A few years back I had a customer who had a 420IC with the loader bucker on front, and a ripper on back. The guy was supposed to give me first rights on it when he decided to sell it. A year later I go back to work on his larger machine and notice it gone. When asked about it, he apologizes and says he forgot I had wanted it, and that it had been sold. He got $1000 out of it.....made me sick as I would have gladly given him that for it.
