Been looking at this bobcat 642 oil looks black, not cream starts good runs good , has a ford gas motor in it , not sure if thats a good motor or not ? The fellow says there is a new pump in it with less than 300 hours tires are okay exhaust pipe has a little bit of slime on it when I rub my fingers together.

Any thoughts he's asking 7300 is that a good price?
Using for snow and for landscaping

Thank you

I have one just like it, and love it. The price/value is something I'll stay out of. Just make some price comparisons for similar size and age of machine in your area. Prices do seem to vary considerably by area. The 642 is reasonably easy to work on. Feel free to e-mail me about this if you wish, and I would be happy to write more.

A friend of mine had one, the engine is a Ford 1.6L gas (some 1971-72 Ford Pinto's came with that engine). I have a 743B, and its very similar the 642 except the 743B I have has a Kubota 4 cyl diesel. My friends 642 worked pretty good for it being gas. $7300 is not a bad price, looks like it wasn't abused at all (not all beat up like my friends 642 is). The 642, and the 743B like I have wouldn't be too hard to repower. I have another 743B with a bad engine, and I have been thinking about putting a Perkins AD3.152 from a old MF135.
