Worst Plow Driver?

Don't worry, he's from Austin Texas by way of San Francisco and is a musician out of work. As soon as he has a permanent gig or a girlfriend he'll be headed back to Austin. Then he'll play music most of us don't understand way too loud and we'll scratch another restaurant off our list.

it appears his truck didn't have the traction for that depth of snow---and then obviously his steering box or tie rod snapped and couldn't straighten up his front wheels

Getting a running start at huge mountains of snow is rather dangerous, and extremely hard on your plow vehicle. Especially in 2wd. Use your tools properly and they'll last a lifetime. Don't, and this happens.

Needs chains for traction, snow is changing to ice under the wheels. Also needs some weight in the back.

Made me shudder to know that it is that time of year. Looked like equipment was way underwhelming for the conditions.

Looks to be pretty icy under there. Looks like hard packed snow too. If I don't slow down for even a 2' deep drift, let alone a 5' drift with a side plow on the front, my 65,000 pound truck will be facing the other way before you can blink. Or in the ditch. Now, hang a V plow on the front, and as long as you don't just hit it with one side of the V, you'll stay straight as an arrow however fast you want to go. Only downfall is vision, of which you have none with a V plow.

It's a good job they had the music playing over the video lol I imagine there were quite a few choice words after the steering let go

"James Louis, git away from 'at wheelbarro; you know you don't know nothin' 'bout machinry!"

typical person who has no clue how to operate,,, I could move that little bit of snow with my garden tractor faster than he is,, lol always say anyone can "run" something damn few are real operators and getting less every day

I think most of you guys are wrong. To me this is a classic case of the wrong equipment for the job! Way too much snow for a commercial outfit working under time limits to be using a pickup in those conditions!

Pickups were never designed to PUCH snow. They are designed to carry a load in the bed and maybe pull a trailer. Heck, mechanics love guys with plows with contracts! They gotta get em fixed right now! Actually we hated em. But really, pickups are not designed to push snow and IMO are not good snow removal equipment, at least not where you get a lot of snow. There was a craze here for some time with truck mounted plows. All these guys were going to make money pushing snow! Well come spring when they sat down with their tax person they found out that they made little is any profit after repairs! Now most of the pro's doing parking lots are using wheel loaders with snow pushers on the front!

Heck here even the highway trucks have a heck of a lot of repairs compared to a truck not used for plowing. Not what they were designed for.

From the looks of that snow in the vid they should have been in there with a wheel or skid loader.

Then maybe add in someone who really doesn't know what they are doing? I can take a newby operator, show em how to run a wheel loader and they can clear snow and most likely not break anything. Newby to plowing with a pickup is almost a broken truck BEFORE they start!

Looks to me not enough truck for the job. Pick ups with plows are really a play toy in heavy wet snow. Looks like he had mechanical problems, possibly with 4x4, he's weighed down good with salt ags or something.

I doubt anyone here could do better with same truck in same conditions.
