forgive me for being a greenhorn but the third hand lever next to the left steering clutch lever is used for engaging/disengaging the transmission clutch?
Thanks, John

There's no excuse for being a greenhorn. And no apologies. You don't learn if you don't ask.

Most old dozers had a hand clutch, and it is over center, after you engage it, you snap it over center to hold it engaged.

Hmm, interesting, my brother had 2 22's and both had foot clutches, wonder if it's a later one, close to when they changed to the R2.

Also with a hand clutch, if you are getting off put the transmission in neutral, than push the clutch over center to engage. If you don't it wears the throw out bearing just like riding the clutch with your foot.

I believe pull the clutch handle to snap it over center to engage--to shift gears push it forward to disengage and to brake the spinning clutch so the gears don't grind
