When I wasn't old enough to drive the trucks yet I had auger duty. Funny how it doesn't seem as much fun now as it did all of those years ago. Harvest is winding down. All of the elevators are full so I'm left angering the last few patches. I'm hoping not to end up augering more than about 8000 bushels. This time of year it seems that you end up doing half your work after dark and augering isn't any different. I do enjoy hearing the old Farmall A grunt on the auger. This year it hasn't done anything other than auger, but I bet it gets about 75 hours doing that between loading and unloading the big bins. It's good for her. The 7800 gets to grunt on the 650 bushel auger wagon when I open the unloading flaps all of the way.
