To find a diesel tractor that doesn't sound or smell like a diesel. A friend brought this one.

Any comments on how good this tractor is?

The neighbor had his little tiny "15" foot long driveway paved. They had one of the small pavers and it was purrrrring along as quiet as could be. I asked the owner about the machine and was Shocked to find it was a diesel! Three cylinder and it was about the sound of my 22hp briggs Vtech. European diesels used to Really Stink. I know the new teir 4 stuff smells kinda like hot copper pipes.

I told you that a long time ago. As I told you then there is no smell to mine. If the wind is blowing back at you sometimes you get a smell like paint on a hot surface. I have been old that I could stop this by adding 3 inches or so on my exhaust pipe. What is that tractor a Manindra if it is I heard they are good but the dealer network is spotty. The nicest one I drove when I bought mine was a Massey Ferguston. The ca was very large and it ran quiet but there is only one dealer in a 100 mile range from me

Is that a Mahindra?

Mine is a tier and it does not use dif. Even though It uses fuel to burn the carbon off it is almost twice as fuel efficent as my old one was. When it goes into regen mode a light starts flashing in the dash and you increase the throttle until the light goes off. There is another one to tell you it is the ren gen mode other than that you don' know that it is the regen mode

I've owned several tractors with Yanmar motors and they are about as good of a motor as you can find.Cousin has a JD 855 built by Yanmar with over 5000 hrs and the motor has never been touched except for the normal things like oil changes. He has run it hard mostly on construction jobs,I've redone the bucket twice for him.

My Mahindra is built by TYM with a Daedong (Kioti in the US) engine. Sounds mostly like a diesel but no smell, except a little at cold startup. It's been a great little tractor, no issue in almost 3 yrs. that I've had it. In this country we tend to forget, or not even know, that many foreign manufacturers have been making tractors and farm machinery for many, many years and doing a good job of it. Do an internet search of some and you might be surprised at how many years they've been doing it and how large some of them really are.

In the pic, we were loading horse poo in my dump trailer. I know what horses smell like and this tractor definitely doesn't smell like horses.

TYM builds tractors or at least a few lines for Mahindra, that might be why they look similar. In fact there are several S. Korean tractor companies that build tractors for other brands. LS is another one I can think of and they build a lot of the new holland models.

I shopped for a new tractor about 2 years ago and LS and TYM were two I paid close attention to. Comparing their specs to green and orange they would win at least in the 33-45hp range. The one spec I thought was odd were the LS & TYM had a good bit of a weight advantage over the others. Luckily I decided to save my money and bought a MF 245 with a few problems but I can deal with them. This took place right as the tier 4's were coming out. It seems that the people that knew about the tiers and emissions components were trying to buy up the tier 3's before getting stuck with a tier 4
