Tractors Across the Pond

I just want to give a shout out to all the great people in England, especially the Cotwolds. My wife, son and I had a very good visit with folks from all over that area. Your
gracious attitude and hospitality are the best I've ever experienced! Driving along a wiggly road with the windows down I could smell the fresh manure on the farm fields. Some
folks might not appreciate the smell but it brought back memories of my childhood on the farm. I saw plenty of Fendt tractors along with New Holland and John Deere. Your farmers
are excellent drivers, pulling those large carts and negotiating so many cars with those hedges growing close to the roads. I walked part of the Cotswold Way and crossed many
fields that have walking paths. I was especially pleased to stop on the motor way and let a herd of cows cross. All the livestock look healthy and well fed.

England is just Brilliant!

What you've posted has been our experience in Scotland and northern England...rural folk are warm and gracious🤗🤗🤗

Reminds me of a story I heard about a family visiting relatives on a farm in Sweden one time. They stopped in,had a good visit,a good meal, spent hours talking then found out they were at the wrong place. The folks who owned the farm where they had stopped said they knew the folks they were looking for and would take them their if they wanted them to.

They said "No,this is close enough.".

Many thanks for your kind comments about this country. My wife and I find that when we travel in Europe and Australia we get the same sort of reception. Think its because we speak "tractor".

Next time you come over, plan in a few days in the Eastern Counties of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, most people come to see London then head North to Scotland or West to Devon and Cornwall. We have many links to the US from the air bases here in 1942 to the early 1950's when a number of your service men were stationed here.

This was my first trip to England. You are exactly correct when you say "The next time you come over" because you can not only visit once :) I will add your suggestions to my list of must see places. We were in London four days and spent two weeks in the Cotswolds. My wife works with disabled children and she has been to the Cotswolds five times for short stays to help the children. The only sad part is she has to tell customs that her trip is just a holiday. Even though it is charity work the customs officials will not let her in if she tells the truth. We pray about this as we are Believers and want to do the right thing and obey the laws. We would appreciate prayers from those who are Believers in God and any positive reinforcement from anyone regardless of your religious beliefs. I enjoy learning about farm life in the UK.

If I were ever to make a trip of any kind like that It definately WOULD NOT include London or here in states NYC or Chicago or LA or Atlanta or any place like that.

Leroy, I respect your decision on what to do with your holiday time. Our son has a great interest in learning about England which included touring large cities. We spent the majority of our time in rural England and spent time with friends who live on farms and in small towns. I believe we got a good education from our English hosts. I did miss visiting with a gentleman who has old English tractors he restored but he had to be away while we were there. I forgot to include Massey Ferguson tractors in my previous post. God Bless All and I hope you are able to visit such a beautiful and friendly country!
