In another post you stated the 1010 crawler and other JD engines had the same bell housing as the 2- 53 Detroit. What number is this bell housing and what specifically what other JD equipment used this bell housing? Thank you for the information.
 
There was a unique flywheel housing that was used on 2-53's in JD equipment, it would bolt up to the 430 style bell housing and was used in 435 and both 440 wheeled and crawled tractors.

Seems like the 53 series had a changeable rear plate? Here's a SAE chart. Just measure between two bolt centers to find what you have.
