Rotating tires on dump trailer part 2

I followed a landscaper with two Dixie choppers on a trailer. First chopper was all the way to the front. Second was centered over the two axles. As he turned I noticed the side walls on rear tires were flexing a lot because of the stress while the front tires showed no signs of side walls flexing, they looked normal

I'm thinking this is why my rear tires lost more tread than the front tires. The tire wear was due to turn and scrubbing off rubber.

Will keep an eye out on two axle trailers while turning and see of you observe what I have?

Hi George Normally on a tandem axle back tires wear faster.Back axle scoots more when turning. Richard

Put your trailer with load on flat parking lot asphalt. Turn so the truck is pulling the trailer into a 150 foot (or so, don't measure) put a piece of printer paper under the front edge of each of the 4 tires. Drive forward and retrieve the papers. Skuffing and side slip will be found on the tires that wear most from turning. Spring geometry and loading tactics are main contributors, as are the trailer's for/aft balance and levelness in tow. Common sense says the tires with the least weight on them will scrub when turning....

I have a 24 foot tandem axle deck over and every time I pull out on highway (4 lane) it leaves black marks on concrete. Trailer weighs 4,200lbs. and tractor 8,000lbs. and carry 80lbs. tire pressure.

You should see the tires on the back of my triple axle stock trailer. It can eat them up pretty quick. They aren't cheap, either.
