Lost in dream world.

I got my first antique tractor about a year ago. 1937 John Deere B. Did a bunch of work to it and plan on taking it to tractor shows. I have gotten real into old tractors and want more of them. With the tractor show coming up this weekend I thought it would be nice to have an old truck to haul them with. The wife told me I was dreaming. Maybe one day it will happen. Thought this old truck would be a good pick Maybe put it on a Dodge 1 ton chassis with a 12 valve Cummins

Hey!!!! If you are gonna dream, just as well dream BIG.!!! That truck on a late model frame would look really sharp. And unique. Go for it. gobble

Put a Modern 292 six cyl , it will bolt rite up . Unless you need to go
thru mountains , it'll have plenty of power to get you to the show .....

Went by this place the over a year ago and there set Dad old KB5 grain truck. went by a few days ago and think it has a newer frame under it with a International pick up bed on it. Dad had sold it to another farmer and it sit out behind his barn for ten years.

Yep with a top end around 50/55!

I'd go with a modern running gear and better rear end gearing. Something like a Cummins with a good tranny behind it, like the Allison and a decent frame like a Ford or Chevy. Then that Cummins will be in a decent shipping container   !

Just don't even think about putting collector tags on it. Some states you can't haul anything legally when it has pioneer or collector tags. Check the laws in your state and any state you might haul through!

Those old chevy trucks are made to do the job, unless you are in a hurry, then as someone else suggested put in the bigger 292. Stan

I've got a 292 in a 1965 Chevy C60. Thing lugs around pretty good with 6 or 8000 lbs on it, but I have issues keeping it cool around here in the summer time. We have a lot of hills and such, and it would really do a lot better with a 2 speed rear end, or even a 5 speed transmission to give it a little bit smaller jumps. 4th gear is too quick for the hills loaded, and 3rd gear is like 5 miles per hour!!! :p

If you're interested I got a 94 Dodge 1 ton Dually with a
V10 auto in it. Boby is shot and rear axle is bad but the engine and transmission is good with only 136000 on em. Lots of power. Email me if interested.

My nephew bought and old Chevy Tandem grain truck cheap because it ran rough. After he got the tandem home, he found that the vacuum hose was leaking at the hydrovac. A new hose and the truck ran just great - and the brakes worked better too.

Here is a GMC I picked up. I guess it's my dream. I would run it as is, if it ran.

Extending the cab and making it a 4 door would be cool. I guess all it takes is a little bit of money. Maybe I should play the lottery sometime. Wander how many people would donate if I set up a go fund me page? :)

Do not butcher a nice truck like that by trying to put the cab on a different frame or that deisel. Fix it and use, if engine needs replaced replace with as simular as can be and that would be the 292. At shows if the vehical has been butchered I just walk past without paying any atention to it. I used to belong to a vintage car club that folded when too many members passed on and the younger members with young familys kids activities took too much time something had to drop. I don't go to shows anymore because 90%+ are butchered-wrecked trying to make something that looks like h.

This one is not as old as some of those pictured, but old enough to be an antique. I built
this one winter before last. Pull a few tractors to tractor pulls. Will use it Saturday.

About what year would that green GMC be, early 50s maybe. Didn't know something like that existed with the sleeper.

Great looking old Chevy, even without paint. This one was my life-long dream. I was 10 years old when the first LCF came out, and I told myself I'd own one some day. It only took another 55 years, then another 3 or 4 restoring it. 1957 Chevrolet 5700 LCF (Low Cab Forward.)

I found when the hydrovac starts to go bad , and the seals start to leak, it sucks brake fluid into the intake. I could never figure where my brake fluid was going. Stan

Here is My ride to the tractor shows, just about ready to put "Herkimer" in the barn or over at the Museum for the winter. The local Farm Museum lets us store some of the old stuff for display over the winter as long as We keep the dripping oil contained and I didn't do too good a job last year. Pat. P.

That is one nice looking truck. It reminds me when dad raised hay, and brought me along to drag bales when he stacked the hay in peoples storage areas. Stan

I would for sure be interested in the 2 spd!? Where abouts are you? Shoot me an e-mail if you wouldn't mind. Thanks! Bryce

The beauty of moving a cab from one straight-framed truck to another. The only variable you might have to overcome is frame width.

Onto a pick-up frame would be a whole nother story.
