I have a big 4 tractor that was made in elwood il. It does not run. I was told there was only 8 of these made. I'm ready to part with it. Can anyone tell me what it might be worth?

Do you mean an Emerson Brantingham Big 4 Gas Traction? What Model number?

If yes, there are very few of them... we know a guy who has one. Pretty sure they're worth a pretty penny for sure!

Does it look like this? 1916 Emerson-Brantingham Big 4 20. they also made 12;30; and 45 models

There's a picture of one in the tractor shed archive.
Looks like a large Power Horse

Big 4wd, 4 wheel steer, painted white with Big Four in black on top of the grill? I was under the impression it was homemade and the only one ever built.

No idea of value, its hard to place a market value outside of (whatever someone is willing to pay that day) unless a comparable item has went on the market recently. If you are wanting to sell it, you might want to consign it with people who deal with these kinds of things. I've been to a few auctions handled by Auuman's (probably not spelled correctly, sorry). They sold some "never sold before" stuff there like the Illinois Super Drive tractors that only 4 known of. They might have a better idea of value or be able to find out.

that must be the same company that made the front 4 wheel drive for IH,and Massey Ferguson in the 70s we had one on a MF 2805 axle was ok but the drop box was junk held on with 4 12 inch bolts and would brake the bolt and drop the box and all the oil

i think an uncle of mine had 1 of them if not it looked a lot like it i have no idea of what happened to it. this would have been when i was 10-12 years old i am 68 now

Looks like the one in the weeds at my late uncles place. He thought his was homemade ? Now I wonder if it is one of these ?

my uncle didn't seem to know much about it it was a real brute for power and i'm thinking about as handy as a bear with 4 left front feet.
i don't remember why he quit using it.
my dad thought it was some kind of construction tractor used in road building.
he bought an almost new john deere 730 diesel to replaceit.
