Was outside walking the dogs and accidentaly came upon these two. Dogs took off running, and I did too!! Momma wasn't very happy to see me. Came after us for a little bit, but decided not to (thank goodness!!!). They are in the front yard doing nothing right now. . . .

I saw a couple of them when I was combining wheat in the mountains east od Fort Hall Idaho. A cow and calf high tailed it across the field and disappeared into the trees. I had the feeling if I would have tried to mess with the calf I wouldn't be here today. They are ungainly looking animals.

Have not, but a buddy had one go after him, and both my dad and I have had the moms come after us in cars / trucks when we come around a corner and they and the calf are walking down the road.....

They fear nothing, and are REALLLLLLLLLLY fast! :/

On the night vision shot I think I see a lone eyeball glowing about half way between the bush and right edge of the pic midway top to bottom of the dark area.

There are a lot of car/moose collisions in north and central NH every year. I have had two close calls while driving car or truck and two while on my snowmobile. I have noticed that their fur does not reflect light from headlights, so you have to brake for a hole in what you are seeing.

We actually DO have a large bull around here somewhere. Haven't seen him in a month or two, but he is due back. Someone in our house throws the "not so good" apples at them when they arrive...... :)

well there you go keep on feeding them and they will soon act like they own the place and you will be playin by their rules.....

Had a big bull about 20 yards from my front door last week, and a huge bull sighted about 10 miles south of my place last week. Cow with twin calves in my field a half mile East. SW of Minot, ND

Have you ever seen the pictures of the Logger who harnesses a big Bull Moose and logs with him..says the Moose returns every fall...

Pardon an ignorant southerner but is there a time of the year that they are more aggressive? Like during the rut? I sometimes see pictures of a lone moose walking around a town and no one seems concerned.

During the rut the younger bulls range further than the rest of the year. This increase in travel results in more contacts with humans. but not necessarily activity that is more aggressive.

it did not take long to get grumpy. The other hunter is crippled up with knee, back and shoulder problems. the moose was shot late Friday afternoon and we were supposed to be packed and ready to fly out early the next morning.
Had to drag moose back to camp, field dress, quarter, skin and wrap with cheese cloth then pack.
The one way clutch busted on the power winch then the power bone saw was missing a piece of the clutch forgotten during the last cleaning. This of course extended the time required. All manual and mostly solo slugging.
We texted a message out then later radioed the air charter service as they flew past to other camps. The next group into our camp was some awful cranky that we shot their Bull moose and made then wait 6 hours at the airbase.

Got home and found the kids had bent the key for the 1640 and now it won't start. They did have it running last weekend and the transmission low pressure light came on. Instead of checking the oil level they added a pail full. Probably just needs a filter.
Then the spare freezer was warm inside even though the kids had plugged it in before arriving home with the meat. Looking for a other freezer today.
