I got a 93 fiat f110.. it has a 540 pto
on it now and the shaft is one that's
held on with 3 bolts.. my question is
how do I change to to 1000rpm for my
bushhog just in bolt the 3 bolts and get
a 1000 rpm shaft or is there a leaver I
gotta change or what? Anyone know

It may be a double-ended shaft. All you need to do is flip the shaft end for end and there's a button in the middle of the socket which pushes in and shifts between 540 and 1000 when you insert the shaft with the 1000 RPM end sticking out.

You've got nothing to lose by pulling the bolts, except maybe all the hydraulic oil in the rear end.

See if you can find yourself a manual. Surely it would be detailed in there.

My guess would be that it come out with those 3 bolts and flips over or you possibly need a different shaft to put back in.

If its like 90 series Fiat you unbolt the stub and bolt on the other stub. There is a small spring loaded pin on the tractor that fits is a hole in the 540 stub but gets pushed into the tractor by the 1000 rpm stub (no hole). This changes the speed. some people "trick" it by cutting a piece of a bolt or round bar to fill the hole in the 540 stub therefore letting the 6 spline 540 stub run at 1000 rpm.

From searching for 2 days about it now., seems as if your all right..it just un bolts and a new one bolts in aND pushes a pin in...I'll see today...I only need it for my fl20 rhino bush hog. It's got a 1000 rpm spline shaft...Thanks to everone
