Engine shaft reducer bushing

Not sure what to call it, or where best place to get one. I have an electric PTO clutch that went bad on a B&S engine with a 1" shaft. I have a clutch from a K321 Kohler with a 1 1/4" bore. Both have 1/4" keyways. Is there a part that I can buy to reduce the bore, or increase the shaft to make these parts fit. The clutch mounting plate matches up to the Briggs engine. I found something similar in McMaster Carr that could be modified, but would prefer the correct part. Also posted on Garden Tractors. Thanks in advance, Roy

M You can have a machine shop make one you will also need a new key made ive done that when i was working in a big factory in the middle of the nite things sometime need to be running as quick as possible.

Seems to me that you're going to need two keyways - one to the engine shaft and one to the pulley. And I suspect you're going to find you will have a problem getting enough meat in the adapter to do that.

I had a similar problem converting a Honda engine with a stepped/threaded crank for a pump impeller to a standard Honda size keyed shaft for a pulley.

The answer was to think outside. Run a weld bead on the outside of the adapter and file it back to make that key.

Google, Flywheel Supply Company. Their phone number is on their home page and it will be easier to call and ask for the part you need because their catalog is huge and will take you forever to locate exactly what you need. I have ordered from them several times in the past and have had great results.

Can you take them both clutches apart and substitute the part that fits the 1 1/4" dia shaft for the 1" part in the good clutch. Those clutches all look pretty much the same to me. May accidently work.

Saw your post on the mower section. Let us keep it simple and I can tell ya what to do. Go look up Extreme clutches in Florida. Phone is 561-852-1010. they are very helpful and most likely will build you a custom clutch for your machine. I have one of their clutches on my Husqvarna and it works like beauty! The clutches they build are many times less than factory cost and look like they are built for NASCar. They even give you the parts you will need. Check them out. PS. Follow the instruction sheet to the LETTER!
