Since this site gets more activity I am going to post here as well as the combine forum. I have an opportunity to buy a John Deere 6620 Titan II sidehill. Currently plant with an 8 row planter. This 6620 Titan II has been operated with an 8 row corn head, but understand it is extremely hard on the king pin where the head turns up front on the combine throat. In fact this king pin has been broken and replaced. Safety seems to be an issue with me. Owner told me he was under the head 15 minutes before the king pin broke sitting in the driveway. He would have been crushed had he still been under it. I guess I could use a 6 row corn head, but there would be matching up concerns. What about running my John Deere 443 head for a few years? Do the side hill components on each side make the machine any wider than a regular John Deere 6620 that I know will operate with a Deere 443? Thanks for your ideas.
