I think I have too many cobs going over the chaffer. walkers are set halfway or about midway on the slots . should I slide them forward? how much maybe?

If you are talking sliding it forward on the walker boxings, it won't help. JI Case walker machines have rubber flaps on the front of the walkers to keep the cobs from getting to the chaffer. I have had to replace them after they get weak and won't "stand" to keep cobs on the walker.

Slide them fully rearward so they extend past the chaffer. Ben

That adjustment is addressed in the operator manual.
