I know this is not a tractor forum question - but a lot of "tractor people" have Golf Carts .. so .
I bought this "Hyundai" Golf Cart (Batteries were dead) Put batteries in - Only GOES forward and reverse - "full bore" ... no gradual speed
acceleration .
Any thoughts on what this might be .. ? I do not know the age of the cart .. but probably at least 10 yrs old .... (BTW: I know this is not "kosher"
but I put 3 - 12 volt batteries in to see if it worked or not . Sure does .. but only surges FULL SPEED forward and reverse - I don't even have to
touch the accelerator just have in forward or reverse.
Thanks so much

Simply separate them?

The solenoid is the part that looks like a car solenoid right?

I will have to check .... thanks

I have about pulled my hair out trying to figure out the battery wiring combination in my old 36 volt EZ Go. The suggested tec website is a good place to start for you. It could be you need six 6v batteries to get the right voltage combination for all the speeds. For parts I use the Buggies Unlimited Website. One thing I will suggest is to get a 'gas gauge' meter for your cart from Buggies Unlimited. When you know how much charge you have left you won't be charging as often and you are less inclined to over charge. My cart will go about ten miles of easy going on a full charge with six batteries.

gdtractor,
My mom had a 1970 ez go. It had a mechanical rotary switch and used resistors to change speeds, one 36v solenoid.

My sister has a newer ez go, it uses resistors and many solenoids to short out resistors to make it goes faster.

Not positive on this, but I'm thinking the 48v ez used an electronic module and had regenerative braking.

If you hear a clicking sound as you push on gas peddle, good chance you are using 36v solenoids.
