O.T.-best choice of flea tick collar

Just picked up our first puppy & looking for advice on flea & tick collar or other alternatives. I see online there is home remedies using apple vinegar cider & baking soda. Anybody have experience with this? Live in the north east of pa. & flea & tick season is winding down.

Haven't had any luck with collars or liquid down the back. Best thing is got to the vet. Heartworm/flea pill. 1 a month and no problems. Dawn dish soap and pert shampoo both kill fleas and are gentle. Fleas in the carpet? 20 Mule Team Borax, dust carpet and leave it there for 2 hrs, vacuum.

I have had good luck with generic Frontline from rural king. Like $15 for 3 months worth. I do not use it year around just in summer.

Frontline/Revolution is only sure-fire way to go, we found. We worked hard at trying the various homebrews & store-bought stuff - with combing, baths, dusts, etc. and still lost the war time after time. Been using Frontline or Revolution for about a dozen yrs now and fleas & ticks just aren't a problem. We do slack off a bit over winter but have doses ready to go in case we start to see something.

Another thing that reduces the fleas and such before they get to the dog is to leave a table lamp on at night with a shallow dish under the light with a bit of water with a drop or two of dish soap in it. That will get an awful lot of them before they ever get to the dog or cat.

We fought a war with fleas using frontline ,diatomic earth ,daily vacuuming, and flea collar. We lost and went to the vet and she gave us an NexGard. In two days the fleas were gone

Is this (Frontline) the stuff you dribble on the back of their neck every month? If so, that's what we use and it's much better than any collars. Also only use it in the warm months, but I'd have to ask the Ms. when we stop and start related to freeze/frost/whatever.

Just go on U-Tube. There are a lot of how to videos with the soap and dish with a lite. Other ways too.

I get a Bayer product by the name of "Advantage Multi" (trademark) from my vet. Once a month along the "withers". Controls adult fleas and the infestation, heart worms, hook worms, roundworms and whipworms. Must kill ticks too as I haven't seen a tick on the "outdoors only dog" since using it for the past 5 years at least. Price varies I guess. Probably not the cheapest thing you can buy but considering what your dog means to you and what it kills??? You'd have to answer that question.
