i have a kubota rtvx1100c i also had a rtv900 like both but really do like the 1100 with heat and air.. my question i go in to my old home stomping ground in western colo elevation around 7000 ft give or take a few depending on my location when i back there i get lot black smoke not real good power i giving some though to installing a after market trubo.. has you all installed any at your place and if so what sorta results did you get and ball park cost. the one thing that made a lot difference is i have the optional hand throttle so can keep it a throttle use foot for speed only and that makes a lot difference on hills well mountains..

Your mixture is too rich. Higher altitude means that the air is less dense. So, the machine that was good around sea level will run too rich at higher altitudes. Automobile systems account for this with their BARO sensors. Apparently, the 'bota needs to be recalibrated for the higher altitude.

Ben, first thing is your 1100 does have a little more motor than the 900. In the early days of the 900 there was a guy at the Louisville Farm and garden show that showed turbo set up. Very crude plumped with plastic pipes ect. In my years have had a couple of customers install one. Here in Tennessee we have steep slopes and mountains but not the high elevation you have there in the Rockies. They were trying to gain speed and really did not help much. As the other poster suggest the black smoke is lack of air so one would think turbo would help. You using the hand throttle for engine control should help some if you are easy with the foot travel. IF I were going to do it I would look around on the net for a kit that is sized right . I am thinking they will be priced around 2 grand or so. You might want to wait until it is out of warranty unless you have a good relationship with your selling dealer. I am sure it would void warranty if you had engine trouble . Assuming it was reported to KUBOTA however if your dealer said nothing they would never know. If you do it please let me know the results and cost.

is out of warranty i deal with agr-power in hopkinsville and got a price, from them don't think thy have put any on but i plan on doing my traveling and i think it help its some but then i not that big hurry to get from point a to point b any more so it depend on what price i can get was just hoping you put one or two on . thanks for the info if i decide to go with a turbo i post how ut works

Some tractor manufacturers used to offer a high altitude kit consisting mainly of a turbo. to push more air to make up for it being thinner.
