Ferguson TO30 Rear Main Cap

I have to remove rear main bearing cap on a Ferguson TO30 with a Z129 engine. I have removed two cap bolts and two small bolts . The cap seems to be really tight and haven't removed it yet . Need help .

just put the two long bolts on but not screwed in and squeeze them and wiggle and lift it out.

Didn't work for me maybe not strong enough but I did use a small screwdriver type pry bar and pushed against bottom of engine block and bottom of rear main bearing cap which cocked it backwards then put pry bar against flywheel and pushed cap forward .Repeated this several times and rocking motion allowed it to come down .This cap really has a tight fit with the leather strips . You reckon I should reuse them or get new ones ?

Those aren't leather strips. Those engines use rope packing in the rear main cap. Yes by all means get new packing and install.

Clyde, I ended up with an extra rope seal for a TO-20/Z120 engine. If it will work for you, let me know, and its yours. (Email is open on modern side of the forum.)

Jason, is the rope seal what Clyde needs? (Not that "string" packing stuff?)

Also, Clyde, post down in the Harry Ferguson forum, and more folks will see it.

Tom, I believe he is talking about the rope packing that goes in the sides of the main cap. I say that because after that stuff has been in there for 50-60 years and it does look like two brown strips of leather after being exposed to oil all these years.

OK, Jason, see.
Clyde, I have some of that string packing, but not enough for both sides. Part number is 1006635M1, and YT and other vendors will have it, in Ticso or A&I labeled bag.
