Got the 3010...

Got the call yesterday, the customers decided to take my offer on the JD 3010 that I posted about a week ago Monday. All the chips fell in place, as I had a customer over that way (27 miles away) that needed skidsteer work, so I took it over to prep the Deere for the ride home. I had to lift up the loader and tie it up, removed the bushhog and hauled it back to the trees where a set of forks and the loader stands were. Also found these weird things in the pine needles... they are pretty heavy and should make good scrap.

It was a pretty good week, hauled this guy home for $500 on Sunday. I guess good deals do come in 3's!

Those "weird things" are the brackets that hold the front weights. Probably removed at the time the loader was installed. Look around, the weights might be there too.

hey Eldon ,,, don't scrap those front weight brackets ,.. if you remove the fromnt loader you will easily tell the proper way they are used ,,. you can also put up to 6 more pancake weights out front that trigger bolt into the twin brakets ,, you did not say what you paid for which item.. if you really got that jd tractor for 500 ,.. you stloe it ,. cant tell if its gasser or diesel,, I had a early 3010 30 yrs ago,, kept it for 5 yrs and finally gave up , trying to keep it running strong ,sumthing about the valves , the curves in the intake , and the carburetor on the early 10 series gassers made them want to run cold natured and run on 2 cylanders like the put puts did . I put yet another set off plugs in her, filled it with premium gas , put a new seat and bagdes on the hood after I painted it up and put a wedding dress on it ,.and doubled my money,. now if that is a diesel I will triple your 500 you have invested,.. but you cant let my sara know .. lol

Eldon you got some good luck going your way right now. The funning looking cast iron pieces are the Base weight for the JD 3010. YOU bolt them on where the loader is currently mounted. Then you can add up to six more weights. You can see how they go in the picture.

(quoted from post at 18:40:33 08/24/16) Are you saying you got the 190 for $500? Those rear rubbers are worth that alone. Does it run?

I drove it on and off the trailer, but the next day it quit on me and I haven't had time to mess with it. One rear is shedding it's skin...other is weather checked. I did get a set of 18.4 x 34 step down band duals thrown in with it.

Yeah I knew what they were when I grabbed the end of one...just thought I'd have some fun and say I was going to scrap them. I do have some slabs for it laying around here somewhere, didn't see any in the pine needles, though.

(quoted from post at 19:05:24 08/24/16) You need a few good deals after buying the new Deere to square things up.

Actually that was my first good buy....6-10k less than the prices on tractorhouse.

Took a pitchfork with me today when I went to pick up the tractor...probed around in the pine needles and found these.

A common leak in that area is the shut off valve leaking around the stem.

There also should be a drain cock and they can leak too.

Just a shutoff valve...I will have to get some fittings and pressure it up. I dumped what fuel was in the tank into my drain tub, what splashed out on the concrete evaporated, so I think someone might have put gas in it.

IMHO todays ULSD tends to evaporate more readily than the old diesel with sulfur still in it.

That may be, but this stuff just sloshed funny...didn't smell like gas, didn't smell like diesel either...had a green tint.

Put a gauge in the return line port and aired it up to 10psi thru the vent hole and no leaking except for a little around the filler cap....so it appears the tank is not the problem.
