So what did you guys do today?

Well today I set myself a nice physical and mental challenge, removing a Perkins 6354 n/a 6 cylinder engine from a Massey Ferguson 625 Combine. Getting the tin off wasnt easy but getting the engine mount bolts at the drive side was much more so. Eventually got it all undone and lifted it out with an International 684 with front loader, on it limits for height and wheel grip but did it none the less.Drove back home the 35miles, good days work though I thought.

I figured that sheet metal would be a bugger.

I spent the day doing something similar as far as tearing things apart. I torched a bunch of bolts and took the plywood sheets out of a Badger forage box. Then I took the roof off a Knight forage box and tore the sides all apart. I want to put that roof on a Simmons rear dump wagon and build new, lower, plywood sides on the Knight so it's usable to greenchop some corn for the cows while I'm filling silo.

Looks like a good days work. I have been around MF combines since 1967 and have never seen a 625 before. Again thank you for posting pictures.

I really didn't do much today after a day of taking wife to Shipshewana flea market and all the walling around and looking at all the Chinese junk. The best thing of the whole day was stopping at Middlebury, IN. and eating at the Dutchman Essenhaus ( chicken & noodles over mashed potatoes).

Did a project promised to SWMBO. Old pond developed a leak over the winter. Found a barely used pond a little larger at a garage sale down the road. Had to dig a slightly larger hole, but it's in the ground and full of water. I discovered a frog living in the old one and he's hanging out by the top of the new pond pic. Probably waiting for the well water to warm up. First 2 pics, old pond. Now I hafta find the leak and fix it...

Dragged a Ford pickup out of the fencerow, organ donor for my "Flintsone Flyer" project. '94 F250, replacing floor boards and changing the whole nose clip. Looks like the previous owner of the donor vehicle put new fenders on it shortly before it died.

Spent the rest of the day raking and baling my first ten acres of rowen. It was pretty light, only a wagonload and a half. One wagon went down the road, and most of the other will disappear some time this evening.

Cut down 18 100 ft or taller oak trees, cut in to 10 ft lengths for the mill. Another 40 to do by Monday when they show up with the grapple truck.

Bill,

Thanks for the post and the pictures. I feel like a slacker after seeing what you did.

I did a minor repair to my NH273 baler in anticipation of baling tomorrow. Tedded the hay that I hope to bale, mowed some lawns, did a fairly major repair to my Huskee brand 42 inch riding lawn mower, and picked up a tractor tire that I had dropped off yesterday at the farmer's Co-Op for repair.

Momma fixed a really nice dinner tonight of her special recipe chicken with Worcester Sauce and saut?ed fresh vegetables.

Now it's just relax and enjoy the Yesterday's Tractor website.

You should have used FlexSeal!! You know, the stuff on the infomercial?? They even show it on the infomercial sealing a koi pond just like yours lol

Thanks for the pictures!

I finished changing a ball joint on my dodge ram. Been sitting in the garage for 3 days as I ruined a drill drilling through those huge rivets and had to buy another. Thumbs up on Hitachi cordless drills btw!

Finished putting a 4th. tooth on the ripper. By the time I moved the other 3 around and moved the coulters and covering disks, it took me 2 days. I pulled 3 shanks with the 120 hp. McCormick but now with the Cat I should be able to pull 4 quite easy. Then I adjusted one of the clutches on the old 800 swather. That is not an easy task.

Fought all day with a brand new, 2 day old computer that finally croaked for good this afternoon.

I bought it online from Amazon, so I'll have to call the company in the morning about returning it for a replacement.

worked a 12 hour OT shift, then home to pull the exhaust manifold off the oldest son's Civic. It split down the middle, new one arrives tomorrow, he leaves for school Friday. Hopefully it goes back together as easily as it came apart! Love the after-work rush jobs.

Goose- my younger son bought a new TV from Amazon to go off to college. It worked for about 20 minutes, then dead. Amazon had the replacement here before he could get the broken one sent back! Great customer service on that one! Hope your computer goes as well.

Went boating. Took the Inland Waterway nearly all the way across the State of Michigan. This year has been the first time that I have put more hours on the boat than a tractor or combine. Great trip but had some heavy seas going across Burt and Mullet lakes. Nobody got sea sick so it was a success.

The new pond is a little larger, and I think my son wants the old one for his new home in Grosse Pointe Park. I have never heard of Flexseal. I was going to fiberglass it when I found it. It seems to have healed itself as the water level quit dropping, but I couldn't trust it after the initial problems. The old one also had some Hostas planted around it but this spot is too sunny and they got scarred. I planted them in different spots in the shade in the front yard...
