Craftsman l1000 lawn mower shuts down

My dad has a craftsman l1000 lawn mower
with a 17hp ohv engine. You can set your
watch after about five minutes it shuts off
soon as it gets to temperature. It's not the
fuel done checked that out it obviously b is
electrical any ideas thanks

Rick look at the fuel filter and see if bubbles are in it. If so the fuel line in the tank could be stopped up. The plastic tube going into the tank where the fuel line is hooked up has a cage fitting. I had just acquired a John deere d170 mower that was doing the same thing. But i had put 2 new lines on the mower plus a pump and still did the same thing. I noticed bubbles in the fuel filter so i started looking for where it could be sucking air. Took that line out of the tank and found it had sucked up some trash from inside the tank. Cleaned it out now runs like a champ
