Howdy folks, I read somewhere about the danger of using too high a pressure grease gun on crawler rollers, what constitutes "high" pressure, I would like to go to a batt operated grease gun but I Think the pressures are too much ? any help much appreciated. Oh, I have a 1956 JD 420-C

High pressure will blow the seals. JD supplied a low pressure gun with the button fitting head when you bought a new machine. The top rod was 1/2 inch instead of 1/4. When you pumped the gun you could feel the back pressure so's not to put in to much. Google low pressure grease gun .

Hmm not sure what it would hurt unless
you pumped and pumped on the track
adjustment cylinder. Like everything a
bit of sense goes a long way

They both have springs, screw or
cylinder adjustment. Cylinders of grease
don't compress they just are easier to
adjust than a big screw

high grease pressure can blow the seals on older style rollers, and idlers. The preferred grease gun is an alemite volume pump--however you can buy a pressure relief valve for your grease gun
