I like the pictures. Thanks for posting. One question though, is that some sort of required safety device on the loader teeth?

Hi Bill,

You are not boring me! I really appreciate the photos. I would like to travel to your part of the world someday.
Thanks, Larry

I love the pictures! We were in Scotland way back in 1985 - took the train to Edinbrough (sp?) then to Inverness, then down to Chester. Didn't really have a chance to do much touring around in the countryside, though.

Yes its an impromised safety device (piece of carpeting and a tie strap) just to keep me and those around safe. I remember as a child our farm tractor was alittle grey fergie, my grandfather ordered a new rear end loader. On the day it was delivered the guy from the dealership came to fit it up and during the process he opened up the entire palm of his left hand with one of the spikes, blood every where, stuck in my mind till this day hence the safety device.

I was engaged to a girl that her parents were from Scotland, mother from highlands and father from lowlands.

boring? Not at all. I know I will never visit Scotland so this is away for me to see some other part of the world. And not through the eyes of a documentary but through the eyes of a regular Joe (regular Bill).

Bill, keep those lovely pictures coming, PLEASE!
Wife & I plan to come over to Scotland and Ireland next year to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. When she showed me some of the costs involved, I was a bit shocked, but she quickly replied "Yes but you have to divide that by 50!"
We are avid birdwatchers, so we will be taking as many back roads as possible. Any trouble with stopping and looking along country roads? We respect private land, but may want to check out birds or interesting farm fields from the road.
Now as for the right/left side driving, it appears to me that there is only one side of most back roads!!

Cost should be less for you folks meantime due to exchange rates, not good for me visiting the US in a few weeks time though.
Think you should be okay with roads except those that say Private and there isnt many of them.
Well one thing for sure you definately need to concentrate on the roads as they are narrow and you can meet anything on them semi trucks go everywhere and can completely fill the small roads.
Have you a route planned?
Bill

wait wait.... expected to see those shaggy good-lookin' Highland cattle, if I remember the name.

Not boring me either. My Great Grandparents were from some place there. I know family clan is from the Highlands.

No boring at all. Would so much like to go there
I would guess the welsh are still welcome? LOL
I do have a quick question, I play in a pipe band and sometimes wear a
Kilt. How common is that where you are?

No planned route yet. We are thinking about finding a nice remote B&B or cottage for rent and wonder through the countryside. There is so much to see for a small county.... highlands, lowlands, islands, seashore. Not very interested in cities. This year, 2016 marks 300th anniversary of the first of my clan immigrating from Londonderry, NI to Boston in 1716. I have no idea when they left Scotland for NI, however.

Bill I really like the pasture scenes, please post more. My peeps were a bit further south near Loch Lommond. The MacFarlanes ...cattle rustlers or hillbillies apparently. LOL

Forum wouldn't let me edit my post to say I had posted picture for [b:45fe66b49a]FBH44[/b:45fe66b49a]: here's another - they are very photogenic, Highland cattle, don't you think?

I also love seeing the pictures. It's the perfect way to visit other parts of the world. Pictures taken by residents are much better than those taken by the travel channel.
The architecture is different but the landscape is very similar to my part of Arkansas, especially the picture of the gate. Most of my ancestors came from Scotland and came to America in the late 1600's.
