John Deere 6620 combine top radiator and engine hot and lower radiator hose cool, can a water pump go bad without leaking or being loose? I don't think it is the thermostat, because top radiator and hose beyond the thermostat are hot, but i could be wrong.

Also, on a 7720 combine, to change the throttle cable, does the side console need to be be completely disasembled to install, I am not sure if there is an easier way to get the cable in there? Thanks for any help, it is much appreciated.

Water pump impeller can get loose on brg shaft but I'd suggest changing thermostat first since impeller is metal not plastic as not as likely to fail.

I have no ideas on changing throttle cable.

I believe you can remove top plate around the shifter and throttle lever and get to the cable.

Its been a few years since I replaced the throttle cable on my 6620 but if I remember correctly you can get to it by just lifting the seat and working from there. I know I didn't dissemble the console as it only took about a half hour in the field.

Had to remove top plate from the console which wasnt' bad at all, but there was a clamp down low rusted solid that was a bear to get loose and also the jam nuts on the cable were rusted pretty good, but all in all it wasn't too bad, thanks for the information.

Yep, it came off, had a little trouble getting the knob off the hydraulic flow, but otherwise it came off ok, thanks for the information.

Didn't have time to work on the 66, but i will change out the thermostats first and then go from there, thanks for the information.
