Discharge hose on the washing machine sprung a leak.Went to three local appliance places and Lowes none had the hose each had to order it, this is on a Whirlpool washer not some
obscure brand. Also wanted a 100% rubber hose to replace the junk plastic thing that came with the washer each place said they don't make them in 100% rubber, prices were going to range in the
$18 to $25 area.Went to Walmart they had a 100% rubber hose that could be adapted to several different sizes by cutting off the end of the hose as it necked down great idea.$7.99
and the washer is back operating and folks wonder why Walmart is putting the local yokels out of business?

How long do you suppose the "quality" rubber from "The Land of Almost Right" will hold together?

Traditional Farmer,

I'm not a fan of the all plastic hose either. When a tenant throws away a washer, they are instructed to put it next to dumpster. I will not send it to the landfill, I'll scrap it out saving the hose you are talking about, before it is sent to the recyclers. The hoses and other parts come in hand and will fit most newer machines too.

I'm lucky enough to have a local hardware store that has an aisle of rubber (and plastic) hose on spools up to 2". You even cut it yourself. It's a rare place.

I know what you mean about the obstructionist local business. We have some of those too.

And scan your receipt with Savings Catcher on the Walmart website and maybe make a couple bucks. I have been saving about 5% using the app on their app.

Whirlpool has stood the test of time, in my house anyway, only washer I have had for over 50 years and can count on one hand how many that was, with the first being used (with the big cast iron gearbox and all) and that set the stage.....worked for me reliably.

They manufacture for many popular brands....that speaks for itself. I just got a new energy efficient one, top load (we had the Bendix TV when I was growing up and forget that) for under $400 with a new Whirlpool dryer also under $400. Both HD and Lowes had a sale and I got in on it.....must have been a factory sale with both stores having the same price and free delivery. It doesn't wash like they used to. The lid locks when washing now so you can't see it wash, but it seems to be like an ultrasonic (vibrating) jewelry cleaner....vibrates the dirt out rather than beats it out. Really sweet and the lint in the dryer is highly reduced which tells me you aren't wearing your clothes out beating them to death in the washer.

Mine were made in the USA!

And.....

You could have bought it at 3 am, gone home, cut the ends off for the fitting size you need, given the hose a try and if it didn't work, return it at 3 am the next day - no hassle.

As much as I hate to admit it WM and Lowes have a lot of stuff. I miss going into the hardware stores like I used to. There is a couple of hardware stores that I still use from time to time but most have gone out of business around here, at least the old ones that had real HARDWARE.

my guess is the 'quality' rubber hose from Walmart & the 'plastic' worthless one from whirlpool both came from the 'land of almost right. '

I couldn't find the 15" trailer tires I need for my stock trailer, everyplace I went said go to Walmart. Yep, they had them. Would have been the last place I'd thought of.
