Quick Hitch Question

I do not know much about them, but thinking of putting one on about a 50 hp. JD tractor. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a Cat. II hitch that has been sitting idle for years. It is continuously in the way of the PTO hookup, & I just couldn't stand it anymore! Something for You to think about. + I cant change from Cat. I - II, & back without taking it off for Cat I operations! I have no 3pt implements that are dual Cat. hitches.

I have four tractors with cat. 1 quick hitches. I have had to modify some of the implements to make it work easier, but it saves a lot of time. I use mostly 2 and 4 row implements. Yes, it is kind of in the way when doing pto hook up, but for everything else, they are a real time and trouble saver. The most recent one I bought is an i-match one from john deere, but it is about 3 times the price of the chinese made ones from the farm store. The tractors I use quick hitch on are 4000 ford, 2010 john deere, 3020 john deere, and new holland tc48d.

Check on amazon they also have a set that will slide over just your lower arm's. That can be used on both 2 and 1 similar to oliver. Even this can be a big help

I got a big Cat 2 from Ag Supply Co last year. It makes hitching up my discbine much easier. They carry several sizes and weights.

I have two Category 1 and two Cat 2, all are JD. I've found the generic hitches are pretty sloppy on their tolerances. Now days, most larger manufacturers make their stuff pretty uniform, but a lot of short line equipment may require some cutting and welding.

+! on the slip on type. highly recommend Pat's Quick Hitch. Made in USA (!) in KY, comes in Cat 1 and Cat 2 models. Northern Tool & AgriSupply sell 'em. No need to mod any implement (a real plus). Pat's is a great company to do biz with - we've put them on 3 tractors, and they've quickly shipped any additional small parts we needed for our particular installations. Can't say enough good about them, a real American success.

I bought Pat's from ASC couple of years ago, $179 for the Cat 2 as I recall plus reasonable shipping. Took about an hour or so to ensure that I got it aligned properly to fit my implements when mounting, but gonna tell you for a guy that works alone, with old Fords where the lift arms normally flop all over the place, and the implement is so heavy that you can't wiggle things-to-fit yourself, they are well worth their price.

Ensure that you get the width adjusting bar that "is supposed" to come with them (ASC units come with the bar). Some folks sell you the adapters at the going price for the whole kit and then want another $17.99 for the bar. If you have the bar pre set for a particular implement, you can back into the implement lift it up and be off your tractor hooking up the third member in a New York Minute.

On the solid frame unit that sells for about $80, ALL your implements have to have the same spacing as width isn't adjustable. I don't know about yours, but NONE of mine are the same spacing.
