Plugs or Patchs;

Went to use my 2N Friday afternoon and found the left front tire flat. Dropped it it off at the local farm tire dealer and when I returned to pick it up they put a plug in it. I'd rather it had been patched. I use no front end equipment so there is no load carried up front, only use 3 point implements. Do plugs hold up as well as Patchs?

Everything around here has a plugged tire. It kind of
surprises me that a business did it, though. It's
kinda old school.

I am familiar with the plug/ patch combination and this ain't it. I didn't give them a preference I just took it for granted they would patch it. The tire is only a year old, if it don't hold I'll take it back and insist on a patch next time. They're a pretty good bunch, and they do stand behind their work.

Look at the plug closely, if it is solid rubber, then the plug is probably part of a patch on the inside of the tire, this is, in my opinion, the best way to repair a tire. If the plug is what they call a rope plug, it will probably be ok on a farm tire, but all the packages they come in, that I've seen, say they are a temporary repair.

I've plugged many, many pickup truck and car tires. Some tires were same as new when the puncture occured, and the plugs were still holding several years later when the tires were worn out.

if its a tubeless tire and the plug is done correctly it will last the life of the tread, the bad rap for plugs comes from the 90% of young folks working in tires places who have never been trained on how to do it correctly, there is one right way and many wrong ways to install a tire plug , also many wrong tire types to install a plug in, tractor rear, and semi and bus tires being the most frequent ones

Never heard of a tire of that size being tubless. Is the rim rivited together or welded?

I have 8N hubs and wheels on my 2N for now. One of these days ill get my 2N wheels fixed and put back on. The 8N wheels work great tubeless. I've never had to add air till I had the flat, dog gone nail anyway!!!

In all my years in the tire shop dealing with those miserable 4:00X19's I never seen a tubeless 1. Good Luck.
