Sorry- Not the song from The Sons of The Pioneers. We got some good rains yesterday and our pond was low so I thought I would pump Cool Clear Water. The pond is built on some old permanent pasture on the side of a hill. A creek runs along side of it and starts about 200 yards up the hill where 2 tile mains dump into it. I know some people say not to use tile water but I know what they drain. I built a driveway across the creek with a 15 in. culvert through it. Now I can take a piece of plywood that I glued some foam rubber to and slide it in front of the culvert and block the water forming a pool. That is what I pump out of. The pump pumps 200 gallon a minute-12000 gallon a hour and the pond is a little over and acre--so a acre inch is 27000 gallon so I can pump an inch in a little over 2 hrs. The pump runs 3 hrs. on a tank of gas so it won't break me. The last picture is my son acting GOOFY....PS> If you want to hear The Pioneers go to you tube and type in COOL CLEAR WATER. Neat old song-----TEE

Old Dan and I, our throats burned dry,....

Imagine my disappointment as a kid when it finally dawned on me that "Old Dan" was a mule or some such beast of burden.

Dan G.

Never knew Dan was a mule! Learned something today! I listened to the song again. The version by Frankie Laine is real good also.---TEE

Heck I thought Marty Robins did that one........oops, he did "Down in the West Texas town of El Paso"...........a young maiden and Rosie's Cantino.

Pretty water. Nice pump.

But I really think he did Water too, Cool Clear Water......I just checked. Yes he did it too. Great singer Marty. I remember "Sons" but don't remember their music......Didn't they sing with Roy Rodgers?

Yes, Roy Rogers was one of the founding members of the group, which over time had a couple of dozen other singers pass through. The group sang in a number of the Roy Rogers movies, as well as others, including some of the John Wayne movies. Ken Curtis, who later gained fame as "Festus" in the Gunsmoke western series, was one of the lead singers for the Pioneers. He was featured in "Rio Grande" (John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara) singing "When I Take You Home Again, Kathleen".

I remember seeing Vaughn in one film when I was young. Starred with Richard Widmark in a western. Geez that was a longggggg time ago. I liked his voice also.
