Hey guys! Wanting to mount a battery to my new flatbed for the winch. Trailer is a tilt bed and I would like to mount it inside the frame, under the bed. That will give me access to it when trailer is tilted but out of the way otherwise. I am looking at the Southwest Speed #499-903 bolt on box, and the Torklift HiddenPower mount.
Both will fit the Group 24 deep cycle I'll be using.
The Southwest Speed is alot cheaper, but I'm not sure if the battery should be "protected" inside of one of the molded plastic boxes. What do you think?
Torklift HiddenPower is a nice setup, and comes with the plastic box, but is made as vehicle specific so I'm trying to get in contact with them to see if any of their models will fit a 2x5" frame rail.
Also, can I splice into the 12+ wire charging the break-away battery through the trailer plug and extend it to charge the winch battery as well?
Thanks for the help!
