I'm looking at purchasing a IH 240 that was running 4 years ago, then left outside when it was replaced by a newer tractor. I am going to have a second look and possible purchase this weekend. I didn't try too hard, but the fan didn't seem to want to budge. I'm going to bring a scope camera to check out the cylinders. The part I'm less familiar with knowing what I may be getting into is with the transmission. It didn't seem interested in shifting. I didn't want to force anything, but is there anything I can do/lube to try and see if I can change gears? What would likely causes of this? I'm thinking maybe the clutch is froze, but honestly don't know what would be involved. What can I look at when evaluating.
The good: it's been converted to 3 pt hitch, 12v, and has nearly brand new tires. It is only $1000, so it's worth it for parts if nothing else. I'd really like to get it running and use it for a season or two and then sell it for something bigger. It's the same size but less functional than my MF135, so it's not something I need right away.
