Your son and Grandson ride the wagon while you set in the A/C. Mowed this field yesterday around noon and tedded it around noon today then baled it this evening around 5:30pm. 190 bales.

Looks good!!! I put out around 600 bales at the neighbors today. MF 285, and a JD 337 Baler... All went well! Would have kept going, but it was getting close to dinner time, and I ran out of twine!! :/

Nice hay- and that guy on the front of the wagon looks like he's big enough to burn diesel. . .

I am an old fart and worry about kids around the farm. That boy should not be standing atop that hay rack. He can have a good time sitting on his butt. And you and Sonny won't have to worry about regrets. Accidents happen, but most of them can be prevented. A great picture with good help and hay and nothing happened. This time. gobble

When I was a youngster I stepped between bales and fell off the top of a load of hay, I remember rapping my head but was lucky no permanent damage.......I think.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe that boy is working? He can't work sitting down.

Nice pictures , and like most of us, I have spent many hours riding the wagon loading hay.Still love the smell of them small squares in the hay loft , but there won't be any on our farm any time soon . Just not enough hours in a day , or help available . Big lad on the wagon wouldn't be crying about the bales being to heavy , lol.

I agree! Great pictures and it is really good to know that families still work together and enjoy each other's company. And, you lucky dog, you get to ride in AC comfort and get to enjoy the whole show. Happy farming.

Yah, I hear ya, I suppose worse things can happen to grandson....like the 4 wheeler he rides, has rolled it over twice now, crashed into my hay wagon, and ran into a pine tree avoiding a collision with his dad who was mowing the yard. Even with that, he is a better driver than you are.

But then grandson doesn't wear a skirt or speak PC like you do.

What farm boy hasn't fell off a load of hay, out of a tree or into a creek?? That's the difference between farm kids and city kids that live in a cocoon.

Your comments about tomturkey were not necessary. I have read and reread his comment multiple times, and I find no personal attack on you or your grandson, just concern for safety of a young man. You may not agree with him, and that is your right.
Speaking from a personal experience, a fall from a high place which results in head and brain injuries can be awful. I have an uncle I worked with every day, who went from being one of the strongest and hardest working men around, to a vegetable in a bed, in a matter of seconds because of a fall from a ladder. He now can do literally nothing. Internal organs work, but his brain is dead. It is a constant reminder to me and many others, safety must be considered in all situations.
I understand work must be done. I am a farmer myself, with three children who love to be a part of what is going on around them. However, I know neither of us want to live with a regret of a preventable accident. Please take a moment and consider the possible consequences of a preventable accident.

Where I come from people who think they have the right to interfere in other people's child rearing are sent packing in a hurry. Just because you and tom turkey are among the many who need the nanny state to hold your hands through life does not give you the right to criticize others who are trying to raise their children to be independent and self reliant.

Agreed. The top half of the wagon isn't loaded yet - at least two or three layers left to go yet. That's why I thought he was up there.

LAA, you disagree with me, and I disagree with you. That's not likely going to change, and I accept that just fine. But why the threatening type of wording? "Sent packing in a hurry"? None of us live in the 1800's old west anymore. Nobody sends people "packing in a hurry", and I believe you are intelligent enough to know that. That type of behavior, if carried out, will put you in a courtroom in real short order anyplace in the United States. There is no need for name calling or threatening type comments just because opinions of people are different. You don't know me at all, and likewise I don't know you either. I don't make accusations towards you, please don't make them towards me. I don't need anybody, especially government, to "hold my hand" to be successful in life. If you knew me, you would know that too.

What does the 1800s have to do with removing someone from your property? As for it never happens anymore - where do you live? It happens a little more often than you think and usually the person being tossed it caught by the police and hauled away.

You have to understand that LAA can?t reply without insulting and calling someone a ?abundant?.
That is his usual reply to anyone who doesn?t agree with him. Just tell him to put on
His asbestos filled flak jacket. He really likes you to tell him that!!
He gives conservatives a bad name.

You are wasting your time arguing with LAA! He is convinced that anyone who doesn't agree with him
is a ------. Excuse his ignorance.

My interpretation was people who have differing ideas from others in a community "are sent packing". I can see where it could also mean an unwelcome individual is "sent packing". If my first interpretation is correct, no one has the right to intimidate others. If the second interpretation was the intent in the comment, I understand the right of personal property ownership. I respect others property, and am hopeful others will respond the same way to me.

M Nut, there were no threatening words used or directed toward you, I simply stated a fact about what would happen in my house if a busy body put their two cents in where it was not wanted, they would be told in no uncertain terms to butt out and mind their own business, hence, ''sent packing''. Maybe you consider yourself qualified to critique other peoples child rearing but I do not consider myself so knowledgeable about what others should or shouldn't do.

D Farmer, that hay sure dried up in a hurry. We are stuck in a high humidity high heat weather pattern with pop up showers daily. Nice looking hay. Do you feed it to something?

I know full well it is a mistake not to leave this thing alone, but--- if falls to close to home I guess. I have a neighbor who mentioned to another neighbor his concern about her son's recklessness on a ATV. Not belligerently but out of concern. She told him to mind his own business. It wasn't many months later that I helped mark for the son's grave at our community cemetery. Hard not to wonder how she feels now about that on top of all the other pain she endures.

I grew up riding on the fender toolbox of a WD and the drawbar of an M with no fenders and survived many other practices that I now recall with amazement. There would be no greater pain for me than to allow one of my grandsons to be hurt or worse due to lack of safety considerations. Anyone who wants to help keep them safe is more than welcome. My macho inclinations went away awhile back. Part of getting old?

Guess it's a shame we've gotten so far off in the brush when all the fellow originally wanted was to celebrate his pride in the family. Looks like we're all victims of the "human condition."

You can't duct tape the kids to their beds and lock them in their rooms, then complain that no young people are interested in farming, or that young people don't know how to work, or that young people don't know anything, or that young people are irresponsible. Yet, that's what happens.

We're so afraid of the kids getting hurt we don't let them do anything that encourages any of that. It's no wonder all they do is sit around and play video games, and turn into mindless zombie delinquents.

Sandel, me being an old guy also, makes me wonder just how this thread got so far out of wack. Being concerned for a young lad's safety may not be someone else's business, but when someone has seen terrible things happen, it is just hard to not take notice of a potential unsafe situation. Locally here, we had a man who always drove like crazy, in a hurry, knew best about everything, killed him self by hitting a gravel windrow from grader on side of the road. Few years later, his grandson, drives like heck all the time, out hump jumping, kills himself hitting a high line pole. Few years later the only man left in the family, the father of grandson, kills himself taking a corner at high speed on his four wheeler. Three out of one family all from carelessness, not accidents. I know you can't just stay in a bubble and I have done my share of dumb things, but it does not hurt one little bit to just at least try to think ahead a little bit.

Nice pictures of sharp looking equipment and a family that works together.

Not much wonder people don't want to post stuff though with the criticism.
