Hi Folks. My turn to ask a favor or two:
1. Thought about replacing the 2quart element filter on my 1965 Ford 3000 diesel with the 1 quart spin on. Per what looks like official Ford parts PDF listings I just downloaded from the www, it looks like there is a kit (PN 309825F) that consists of a large diameter plate with a small threaded hole in the center, a large diameter gasket for mounting the plate, and a small, threaded on both ends, pipe fitting that apparently screws into the plate. I assume that is all there is to making the change. Seems the spin on will thread onto the pipe fitting and the filter's gasket will seal against the plate.....parts list doesn't show holes in the plate but there has to be for this to work......gotta get the oil into the filter somehow. Am I correct and any quick references to a supplier?
2. When I bought this tractor it had no hose between the oil bath air filter mounted in front of the radiator and the intake manifold of the engine. In that same PDF I found the following part numbers:
Item 9........... 311107 Short hose section joining the canister outlet to Item 11 below
Item 11.......... C5NN9B642G Tube section going from canister through bulkhead over the radiator protruding into the engine compartment
Item 12.........C5NN9B640B Hose connecting Item 11 to the intake manifold input
I have been using a length of portable vacuum cleaner flex hose but I'd like to move on with something more substantial and more inline with OEM parts.
Used, functionable OEM parts are fine if someone knows where they may be obtained. I surfed ebay and found numerous canisters and interconnects for gas engines, but no diesel.
Thanks for your time.
Mark
