I wasn't very clear about that, was I? It was given to me because the PO tried to change the clutches and when the trans wouldn't go back together he beat on it with a hammer. I picked up a used trans housing for $100.
Most "free" things are not worth what you paid for them.
Especially if you have to go haul it yourself.
However, I bought a brand new LP water heater to heat my shop.
It had a 6 year warranty and was fixed twice under that warranty.
Then it died again on a Sunday in the middle of winter and I needed
one in a hurry so I found a free one on Craigslist.
Lady had converted to Natural gas and just wanted it gone.
I drove an hour and a half each way to get it, humped it out of
the lady's basement on a hand truck, loaded in my pickup by
myself, drug it home and installed it.
Knowing full well it could quit any day and I'd be needing a new one.
That was about 8 years ago. It has already outlasted the new
one and it was well used to begin with. Go figure. :roll:
