Rained last Night.

Well we got a much needed rain last night into this morning but we didn't need 4" in less than 9 hours. Our sump pump can't keep up. The water level in it is 4" from the top of the sump. The basement is dry Thankfully. Guess I'll have to invest in a bigger pump. The one I have is 1/3hp 2700gph. It's been running constantly now for 4 hrs.

Something to think about 1 inch over 1acre is about 27000 gallons.

In 2008 I got 10 inches in 24 hours. Neighbors 40 acres washed corn stocks to basement Window. Only solution was to move tons is dirt so that could never happen again. Made a river system in yard.
I was lucky basement Windows didn't break.

I never got a drop in the 08 flood but sure got a lot of water sent my way. Work was under water and I had to drive a tractor to get out and go to work. The second highest the white rive has ever been.

The floods of 08 only effected the place at the south end.

No way pumps or drain pipes can handle that amount I water. So I made a way for water run away from house and bath. I had to remove 5 ft of dirt so water could find it's way to the gravel pit. Created a muddy mess until I got it right. Well worth it. Basement will never flood.
