Another WW2 veteran gone

My dad's sister's husband passed away over the weekend. He was 92 and served in the Navy. He had pulmonary fibrosis which kills the lungs from the bottom up. I went to the visitation tonight. I talked to his 4 children. I will not be able to go to the funeral as I need to go to another 2 1/2 hours apart and they are at the same time. She has been gone for at least 15 years. She was engaged to his best friend and they met when he and his buddy were on leave. He said he moved right in when the engagement broke up. He was always full of BS and he was proud of being so! He will be missed. I saw him a year ago last April or May at his sister-in-law's 90th birthday party. He was on oxygen at that time although not that long from what I heard today. I guess he didn't get bad until the end and then passed in his sleep. He was stubborn enough to do it "his way".

Sorry to hear of your uncle. Step dad is 97, he and his brother were both at Normandy June 6, '44. Both made it home, but the horror stories I have heard will scare and shock the h??? out of you.
