Just started using urea instead of potassium nitrate. This stuff cakes badly in the hopper. Anything I can add to prevent this? This high humidity is making it unusuable.

Bulk or bagged? I use bagged on my plots and have little to no problem with caking, the beater bar in the bottom of the hopper always takes care of the clumps. There are anti-caking agents (Fertibon for example) used in the bulk piles and if you're having a problem with that, maybe call your supplier to see what they say.

I use mostly bagged fertilizer now and primarily 33-0-0-22 which is a mix of Urea and Ammonium Sulphate. It is in little pellets slightly smaller than an early pea . Last year I overbought and had leftover bags (small holes for obvious reasons in the bags) on a pallet, out of doors, under a shed roof, with a tarp on top for over a year and had absolutely no caking. Used the typical conical 3 pt 500# spreader. I find that this combination is resistant to evaporation like is advertised about Urea surface applications. Cost has been running $17-22 a bag, ok for small operations but obviously pricy for BTO.

Bagged urea seems to always cake badly. Especially if it's been stored for a while. I always buy in the bulk and the coop runs it through a beater that breaks it up before it goes on the spreader. However it needs to be spread soon or it will cake up again.
