And yet another one.

When I had a delivery to make in farm country, traveling back roads, my question to myself was if I top this hill and there is a kid on an M Farmall pulling a hay rake will I stop in time?

dzc,

There's a "death-trap" about 2 miles away from Spring Hill, TN. There's a crest of a hill that makes it impossible to see over the crest. The speed limit at that point is 45 miles per hour, but many (most) people exceed the speed limit. About 200 feet on the down side of the crest is a road that goes off to the left. That road has a Middle School located on it. There's a great deal of traffic that turns onto the side road, and there is a great deal of traffic heading the opposite direction on the through road so the left-turning cars have to stop and wait to make the left turn.

To the best of my knowledge, no one has been killed yet, but there are rear-end collisions there frequently. The only safe thing to do is to slow down when approaching the crest and assume that someone will be turning just on the other side of the crest.

It's dangerous out there.

This is really sad. I can't get the news feed to play, but was the road flat or was the truck coming over a hill?

Greg

Major 4 lane divided State highway in a rural area. There are hills but probably not a factor. Hit from behind by inattentive driver.

I do a little mowing for people now and then. My daughter has gotten to be a pretty good operator and has offered to go do it for me. This is why I don't let her on the road with the tractor.

To get to the other side of the section I have to take the equipment over two white knuckle hills on a narrow dirt road. I always raise the loader as high as it goes in hopes that someone coming up the other way will see it. And pray. Lots.

Two words..... Strobe lights!

If nothing else, put some flags on your loader bucket.
I'll pray for you to.
We all have those moments.

I'm surprised that the truck driver wasn't killed instead of the tractor driver. The write up says the truck struck the back of the tractor but the truck would have had to strike the baler first.
