Looking forward to a rain , and a day off

Over the past week I have rolled up 500 bales of hay. 330 of them I truck to the home farm and wrapped. Truck we hail 14 each trip, twenty some truck loads. And even with the two wrappers, this prosses is taking too long , and too many people. Today , a fella that keeps horses , wants me to deliver 100 bales to him. 30 mile round trip. He pays well enough, but I would like to do it another day. Oh well , half way to Christmas, and all this nice weather will just be a sweet memory. Just the same , I am getting tired of climbing up on this truck to strap the hay down . Told my sweet heart we should up grade to a wrapper that one person could run , and she could maybe spend her time making pie , instead of wrapping hay. The suggestion has received approval, at least to go wrapper shopping. Bruce

You out did me by a few bales. I cut 55 acres this week, raked and baled it,all alone. 430 4x5s. I sprayed 22 acres of corn, ground a load of feed, changed a roller in the baler, put a seal in the transfer case on the 1365,a radiator in the 2-105,and had to change a belt in the baler yesterday. I'd sure like to see some rain today, but I'm just glad it's Sunday.

You can help your wife tend to her tomato patch today//and whatever you do,,dont brag about a good day,,you jinxed Donald Lehman and Yourself the other day when you did that//lol

I'm not going to try to fix anything today,so a good day would be doing nothing. I don't like to work at all on Sunday except chores,so my Sunday starts when chores are done. I needed to grind another load of feed,so I did that as soon as I was done feeding. That made it a part of doing chores.
She ran the tiller through the garden day before yesterday. She said she's going out right now and turn on the sprinkler just in case it doesn't rain. If she wants me,she might find me on the porch listening to the radio, but it had better be important if she wants me to do anything.

G'Day Bruce -
Just wondering why you individual wrap instead of in-line? Sons bought a used Tubeline this year (have previously rented one) and trade off wrapping for baling with friends.
Envy your crops as Haldimand county is very, very dry, lots of soy replanting, corn,at best,12"-18", appears to be 1988 all over again !

Bruce do you have a squeeze grapple to handle the wrapped bales??? I bought one at an auction several years ago and never have used it.

I wonder why they made the arms so short on yours? I've got a Work Saver. This one closes far enough to pick up bales that I've kicked out before they're full sized. I can tilt it down and do a pretty fair job of cleaning out feeders with it too.

We like the individual wrapped bales for a few reasons. Number one is you can easy keep hay from different fields separate for feed sampling and feeding purposes. Two is much easier to sell surplus hay to other farmers this way, they can pick up a load , and the whole bale is sealed till they want to feed it. Can't do that with tube/inline wrapped bales. And number three reason is coyotes seem to like to get on top of the long lines of wrapped hay, and howle , and they poke holes in the wrap with their claws. Sounds dumb I know but they just love in line bales. Soy beans here a suffering the most, some fields are spotty, but over all not complaining. Bruce

I would think that an inline wrapper would work better for you.The ones I have seen are automated, and just run on a 13hp Honda motor,so that frees up 2 tractors you are using now.And I bet they use less plastic. But you still have accomplished a lot as you do it now!Mark

I like that idea Bruce and it works for you. We just in-line because we feed every bale (sheep and beef) Coyotes aren't a problem yet as we have two groups of hunters around here that routinely take out close to 100 each. One of the best hunters is a little lady 5'4" and wouldn't weigh over 100lbs!

Bruce I like the looks of your and Randy's better then mine. The short arms is one reason I have not used it as I do not think it will grip a bale correctly.
